How is a louvered pergola different from a standard pergola?
A standard pergola has fixed slats or open beams that provide a set level of shade. A louvered pergola uses adjustable aluminum blades that rotate from fully open to fully closed, giving you control over sunlight, shade, ventilation and rain protection.
How does the drainage system work?
When the louvers are closed, rainwater flows across the blade surface into integrated gutters built into the beam profiles. It then exits through downspouts at the posts and is directed away from the patio area.
Can a pergola be attached to my existing home or patio?
In many cases, yes. Wall-attached configurations use an engineered connection to the home or applicable existing structure. Double T Screened Patios evaluates the conditions during the site visit before specifying the attachment.
Do louvered pergolas require a building permit in Dallas-Fort Worth?
Permits are required in many DFW municipalities because these are permanent structures, and motorized systems may also involve electrical requirements. Double T Screened Patios handles permit research and filing for the applicable jurisdiction.
Can motorized louvers be operated during a power outage?
Motorized systems include a manual override so the louvers can still be adjusted if electrical power is interrupted.
What colors are available?
Standard frame colors shown by Double T Screened Patios are White, Black, Bronze, Driftwood and Grey. Custom color options may also be available depending on the project.
